Abstract
The effects of working fluid on cycle efficiency are analyzed in an Organic Rankine Cycle using energy and exergy method. A total of 14 fluids were chosen based on their environmental and safety properties; their efficiencies are compared using a reasonably simplified model. Overheating at the evaporator outlet was studied theoretically and numerically and was proved to be one of the most important parameters affecting cycle efficiency. Boiling point and saturation temperature was found to predict fluid performance when the cycle highest allowed pressure is set.
