Abstract

An approach to superimposing a raw radar image on an electronic chart presented in vector format is described. The question is discussed whether chart and radar display should be integrated or not. A set of mathematical formulas for superimposition are proposed. The current transformation matrix both for radar and chart images in computer graphics standards are presented. Two methods and related devices to capture radar images for PC are developed. Some experimental results are demonstrated. A superimposition of raw radar images from a surveillance marine radar on the electronic chart of Varna Bay, Black Sea are described
