Abstract :
The teletraffic performance of a digital cordless communication system supporting mixed services has been simulated. When only standard voice connections are used in an office environment, the traffic capacity of the Digital European Cordless Telecommunications (DECT) system was found to be 500 E/MHz/km2/floor for a base station separation of 30 metres. Mixing duplex connections employing TDMA slot types of different lengths results in reduced grade of service for the longer slot types. Performance decreased with increasing traffic load and for increased proportions of shorter slot types. Basic rate ISDN services were found to be best served by using a single slot type in multibearer connections, and acceptable performance was achieved in mixed service environments. Enhanced call procedures are required to make effective simultaneous use of different slot types
