Abstract :
The authors study multiplexing and demultiplexing performance in a switch fabric used in the ATM testbed of a RACE project. The switch fabric with specified number of input links and output links is built from a number of identical basic switching building blocks. Since the switch fabric is built from identical basic components, modelling of the switch fabric can be simplified without losing generality. Based on the simplified model, simulation techniques are used to study multiplexing and demultiplexing performance in the switch fabric including characteristics of superposed traffic, cell delay and cell loss
