Abstract :
In this paper, we implement a numerical tool for the simulation of the spectral and temporal characteristics that can be achieved in fiber reflection and transmission gratings. Both principles for understanding and techniques for manufacturing fiber gratings are emphasized. Examples of possible utilization are presented. The types of gratings considered by this numerical tool include uniform, apodized, chirped, discrete phase-shifted, and superstructure gratings; short-period and long-period gratings
