Abstract

This paper reports the STRUCTBASE system, which is a STRUcture based Chinese Text dataBASE system. STRUCTBASE is built on basis of a hierarchy based text database model. In this model, text database has a natural hierarchical structure, which consists of two parts: inter-document hierarchical structure and intra-document hierarchical structure. The former corresponds to a kind of documents category hierarchy, and the later refers to the internal hierarchy of documents, such as chapters, sections and paragraphs. Other techniques for implementing STRUCTBASE are also presented, including text database building and indexing structure.
