Abstract
It is sometimes necessary to reduce the electromagnetic signature of buildings because of their undesirable effect on aircraft navigation systems. Indeed, planning permission is not granted to buildings close to airport runways unless their perturbation can be reduced to less than specified regulatory thresholds. This paper presents two solutions for doing this: A thick, conventional, diffraction grating which has been mounted on a real building facade at Toulouse International Airport and a new, thin resonant diffraction grating that has been successfully demonstrated on a full scale test base.
