Abstract :
This paper explores the design of robust stable digital filter by applying the Improved Genetic algorithm (IGA). We first derive a robust stability criterion which will be used to ensure the D(α,r)-stability of the digital filter in the evolution of IGA. The IGA was then applied a stable IIR filter based on the designed D(α,r)-stability criterion. Finally, we will compare the results of IIR filter designed by IGA with that designed by a traditional GA. It will be found that the performance of the IGA is better than that of a traditional GA in the design example of this paper.
