Abstract :
This paper proposes a switching symbol timing detection method for continuous OFDM signals. The proposed method automatically switches two symbol timing detection schemes according to the received power level. In the high received power condition, the proposed method detects the symbol timing by the peak value of the correlation function between the received signal and its delayed signal. On the other hand, in the low received power condition, the proposed method detects the symbol timing by utilizing both the symbol timing detected in the high received power condition and the internal counter. From simulations, it has been clarified that the number of missynchronization is reduced by about 2.7 % of the previous method at the maximum in a multipath fading environment.
