Abstract :
Summary form only given. A high-current, L-band, relativistic klystron is under development at Los Alamos. The goal of the effort is to produce 1 GW of output power with a pulse duration of 1 /spl mu/s for an energy per pulse of 1 kJ. The tube consists of an input cavity, a single idler cavity, and an output cavity feeding a coaxial transmission line with a matched termination. A power level of 500 MW and a pulse energy of 160 J has been achieved.
