Abstract :
This paper describes a compact package, comprising a wideband antenna with a compact spatial notch filter, useful for RF applications requiring a high rate of data transfer. The use of fractal concepts helps to reduce the package to almost half the normal size, and to realize a much sharper band-stop than would be possible with a conventional filter. The antenna is a planar slot fed by a CPW; it provides a very wide bandwidth between 2 and 7 GHz. It is shown that this antenna can be combined with the spatial notch filter to reject an undesired interference at 5.5 GHz, with little or no compromise of the performance outside the rejection band.
