Abstract
Urban pipelines carrying natural gas develop rapidly and they have spread over every corner of cities. The pipeline medium of methane is flammable and explosive, its release may bring harm to people and property in the vicinity. Risk analysis for pipelines is very important to reduce such losses. In this paper, risk evaluation technologies and methods of qualitative, semi-quantitative and quantitative are introduced. Quantitative risk analysis is emphasized and in this part, pipeline failure probability, failure consequence, individual risk and social risk are introduced in detail. Based on these researches, some suggestions are put forward to mitigate pipeline risk.
