Abstract :
A prototype RICH detector with a phototube-based photocathode array has been successfully tested, utilizing three different phototubes in the array. For 400 GeV/c π-, 11.8 photons per ring were detected and the ring radius resolution obtained was 1.13%. This is sufficient to provide useful separation of pions and kaons up to 250 GeV/c. The figure of merit for the entire photocathode was measured to be 93/cm
