Abstract :
The outcome of an ongoing research project, the design and implementation of an ISDN (integrated services digital network) gateway to internetwork ISDN with LANs (local area networks) and to extend network users´ reachability, is presented. The data communications scenario using the combination of ISDN and LAN technologies is explained; the design and implementation of an internetworking gateway between ISDN and an Ethernet LAN are described. Data communication between ISDN work stations and Ethernet work stations is realized through ISDN, using TCP/IP protocol suite at the upper layers. The design is open to the adoption of new protocol standards
