Abstract
This papers details a performance comparison between single and dual stage MMIC PIN Limiters. The two limiters were designed for the best 3 to 28 GHz small signal performance with minimum die size possible. The dual stage limiter was 32% larger than the single stage but provided many performance benefits. Simulations and measurements of the fabricated devices give insight into critical performance trade-offs valuable for future limiter design efforts.
