Abstract :
The goal of this work is the development of the laser rangefinder systems for an autonomous unmanned aerial vehicle (AUAV), that is being specifically designed for the inspection of electrical lines. This system allows for automated inspection of the power lines, replacing the manned helicopter which is nowadays employed for these inspection tasks. This work includes the development of two systems. One of them is an active triangulation system used to track the electric line. The second one is a laser altimeter that is used as a safety warning during normal flight
