Abstract :
The effect of common channel acknowledgement traffic on the packet departure process is studied for nonslotted CSMA (carrier-sense multiaccess) systems without capture. Both non-persistent and 1-persistent protocols are considered along with two acknowledgement schemes for each protocol. The packet interdeparture time moment generating function is explicitly derived in each case under a Poisson arrival model.<>
