Abstract :
A CsI(Tl) yield monitor has been constructed for quasi-monochromatic photons generated by Compton backscattering of laser light. The monitor is of 150×150×300 mm cubic type, consisting of 9-CsI(Tl) crystals. A detection efficiency of 100% was achieved for 20-MeV quasi-monochromatic photons. All incident photons were measured up to 2 k c/s of the counting rate. The energy resolution was 3% for 3.2-MeV LCS (laser Compton backscattering) photons and about 5% for the 20-MeV LCS photons
