Abstract :
Two novel techniques, the eigen and analytic moment solutions, for the prediction of the experimental gamma-ray peak broadening induced by gain wander in a gain-stabilized system are presented. For comparative purposes, Ferguson´s recursive solution was revised to incorporate a Gaussian distribution for the reference peak. All three techniques provided self-consistent results over a wide range of reference peak FWHMs and gain stabilizer resolutions. Only the analytic moment solution has the advantage of not requiring iteration. Preliminary experimental values of peak broadenings approximated the predicted values
