Abstract :
This paper examines the application of an Ideal Rotating Transformer (IRTF) model for evaluating the transient and steady state behaviour of a self-excited induction generator. The IRTF model is outlined and compared with the traditionally used dq induction machine model. Simulated results from both models are compared to experimental results obtained from a 4kW induction machine. The merits of each approach are considered.
