  • Abstract
The method based on the Malyuzhinets theory is very popular for solving the problem of diffraction by a wedge with given face impedances. It uses an original and very important method based on the Sommerfeld representation of the involved fields (see Osipov, A.V. and Norris, A.N., Wave Motion, vol.29, p.313-40, 1999). For studying fields and waves in wedge shaped regions, it is put before the more powerful Wiener-Hopf technique. The main reason for this preference is the belief of many researchers that the Wiener-Hopf technique can be applied only for certain values of aperture angles. The author has always felt this limited use of the Wiener-Hopf technique for wedge problems to be unsatisfying. To illustrate that the Wiener-Hopf technique works in problems involving wedges having arbitrary angle aperture, the Malyuzhinets problem is reconsidered.
