Abstract :
We investigate the possibility of the generation of planetary waves in the dynamo layer of the ionosphere, where Hall-conductivity is dominant due to permanently acting factors such as the latitude gradient of the geomagnetic field and the angular velocity of the Earth rotation. We utilize magnetohydrodynamic equations for the ionosphere and generalized Ohm´s law for the E-region, taking into account that large-scale flows do not perturb the density and concentration of medium particles (see Khantadze, A.G., 1973; Gossard, E.E. and Hooke, W.H., 1975), with the exception of acoustic-gravity and magnetohydrodynamic waves. We conclude that large-scale electromagnetic vortices generate intensive magnetic fields in the dynamo region of the ionosphere. The values of such fields are an order of magnitude lower on the Earth´s surface and may be easily registered by equipment. So, electromagnetic large-scale nonlinear vortical structures are long-lived in the dynamo region and therefore they can play an important role in the transfer processes of substances, heat and energy and in the formation of strong turbulent states (see Aburjania, G.D., 1990).
