Abstract
For both tunable lasers and laser biosensors which function due to refractive index changes on the devices, modelling of the laser´s emission wavelength is essential for optimization. However, methods commonly used are time consuming or not precise. Here a simple yet precise emission wavelength modelling method is presented. It is used for analysis of hybrid first order distributed feedback (DFB) lasers with varying high index layer thickness and second order DFB laser sensors.
