Abstract :
According to the important role of the ambiguity function of a signal in performance of match filter bank for detection of targets and estimation of their ranges and velocities, in this paper the thumbtack shape is considered as a desired ambiguity function shape and method of least-squares for synthesis of the ambiguity function is introduced, and then an iterative method for allocation of proper phase to the desired ambiguity function, to obtain better results, is proposed. Then this method is applied to select proper codes for synthesis of OFDM signals. Also it will be shown how this method can reduce side lobes almost uniformly through the entire of ambiguity plane.
