  • Abstract
    The design of a broadband microstrip patch antenna with a circular arc shaped slot is presented. The microstrip antenna consists of a rectangular patch with a circular arc slot. It is designed for wide bandwidths of about 30.0%. In addition, two approximate equations for the resonant frequencies of this antenna are derived by analyzing the surface current distribution on the microstrip patch. The two proposed equations for the operating frequencies are accurate within about 4.0%. The operating frequencies of the proposed antenna are found to have the same polarization and similar broadside radiation characteristics. The details of the antenna design and simulation results are presented and discussed.
