Abstract :
A systematic and rigorous study on topological properties of PWM converters is presented. A formal statement of the switching network problem is given and the conditions under which unique DC solutions can be obtained are determined. The differences between the topological assumptions introduced and those reported previously are examined. Some seemingly trivial topological cases like degenerate and/or redundant switching networks are of practical importance and, if considered, lead to remarkable results. The feasibility of synthesis of new converter families is confirmed
