Abstract :
An adaptive MAC scheme called Probabilistic CTS Reply (PCR) for mobile ad hoc network is proposed. This scheme takes the influence of the Large Interference Range to the IEEE 802.11 RTS/CTS in wireless environment into account, and based on the efficiency of RTS/CTS and transmission range between the transmitter and receiver, then makes modification of RTS/CTS from the receiver side. The results of the theory analysis and the network simulation give the conclusion that PCR can lessen interference more effectively than RTS/CTS and improve the performance of the network.
