Abstract :
This paper presents a brief summary of the issues linked to the characterization of tropospheric propagation in polar areas. The characterization of the propagation in those areas is mainly motivated by their strategic location for the implementation of ground stations for the reception of data from Earth Observation satellites. Specificities and issues with current models are detailed.
