Abstract :
This paper shows a multi-channel MAC protocol to achieve multi-hop transmissions of high throughput by ad-hoc networks. High performance home appliances and mass recording media have spread to ordinary families, and large capacity transmissions have been required in home networks. Ad-hoc networks have advantages of decreasing user´s load concerning the installation of such home networks. In order to avoid interferences and suppress throughput decrease, multi-channel MAC protocols have been studied. In home networks, interferences with other transmissions often occur. It was shown by our proposal to make single-hop transmissions high throughput. However, conventional techniques had a problem that throughput decreases greatly according to multi-hop transmissions. Then, our proposal was enhanced to make multi-hop transmissions high throughput. Moreover, the throughput decrease of multi-hop transmissions was prevented by duplicating transmission paths and by preparing a sending channel as well as a receiving channel. Effectiveness was confirmed to the proposal by simulation.
