Abstract :
The year 2008 is the 40th anniversary of the IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society. To help celebrate this august occasion, a set of technology historical review papers covering the major technology areas of the OES have been generated by the OES Technology Committees leaders. Each of these papers, except for papers no. 6 and 14, were presented at the OCEANS´08 MTS/IEEE Quebec Conference in September 2008, and appear in that Conference´s Proceedings. However, because of the special nature of these historical papers, they are also included in this IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society 40th Anniversary Technology History Proceedings
