Abstract :
Median filter is well-known for researchers in many fields. In image and video processing, it can be used for filtering noises, for estimating background images, and so on. Its effectiveness is undoubtful. However, median filter is time-consuming. This paper presents a new method for computing median filter´s response. The proposed method is O(1) and better than existing methods analytically and experimentally. The experimental results with background estimation problem consolidate the finding in this paper.
