Abstract :
The authors present a study of multigigabit optical transmission technology. System configuration and aspects of the development needed to construct multigigabit optical transmission systems are discussed. The results of a 4 Gb/s optical transmission experiment over 132 km, and the performance of a novel 4 Gb/s high-speed Si bipolar IC are presented
