Abstract :
This paper presents a high efficiency power generation system using a low cost synchronous rectification scheme for an active MOSFET rectifier. The proposed system not only improves the efficiency by 5 percentage points and increases the output power by 12% at engine idle speed, but also has minimal impact on the overall package size of the generator, making it very suitable for production. The generator control concept is simulated and then verified on a proof-of-concept system built and tested in the lab.
