Abstract :
This paper proposes six step phase modulation method of dual inverter for open-end permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). The dual inverter system which only one inverter is connected to the power source and the other one is boosted through the machine is considered. This paper proposes power regulation strategy which uses six step phase modulation instead of PWM for the source connected inverter. The proposed method keeps the machine in required state while outputting the squared voltages from one inverter for the whole region. The proposed method can minimize the high frequency components in DC link current which are caused by PWM switching. Due to the reduced harmonics, DC link capacitance can be reduced and EMI comes from switching also can be suppressed. Analyses, strategies, control method, and experimental results are descripted.
