Abstract :
The authors propose an algorithm which directly filters and backprojects the fan-beam data within a limited area close to the fan-beam collimator surface without rebinding into parallel beam geometry. The proposed reconstruction method improves spatial resolution in SPECT (single photon emission computed tomography) for brain studies using fan-beam collimators. When projection image data with a 128×128 matrix are used, this method improves spatial resolution and image quality. This matrix size is suitable for clinical studies with an acquisition time within 20 minutes
