Abstract :
The IEEE International Symposium on Cluster Computing and the Grid (CCGrid 2006) is the sixth in a series of successful international conferences and for the first time takes place in the heart of South-East Asia-Singapore. Singapore was founded as a British trading colony in 1819 and became an independent nation in 1965. It is a vibrant and cosmopolitan city, rich in contrast and color, where you will find a harmonious blend of culture, cuisine, arts, and architecture. Singapore has everything to make your stay a most memorable experience. CCGrid 2006 takes place at Singapore Management University in the center of Singapore. It is being held in conjunction with the second Grid Asia event, organized by the Singapore National Grid Office and its partners. Grid Asia promises to be an exciting major annual event for the region with a broad theme that caters to everyone - from the interested individuals, practitioners and user organizations in industry to the research and development community. The past years have seen tremendous challenges with the convergence of Web Services and Grid Technology. There have been major initiatives - internationally as well as locally - within the community that has taken up these challenges. Grid Technology enables us to make a major change in the paradigm for conducting our work with the holy grail of "computing on tap" that also includes collaborative sharing. With this in mind, CCGrid 2006 provides researchers and practitioners with an excellent opportunity to share their research and experience at the crossroads of Grid Technology. This year the CCGrid main conference received 237 papers from 31 different countries. The quality of papers presented is ensured by a rigorous review of each paper by a program committee of renowned leading experts in the area. From the submissions received, 59 were accepted for presentation as full papers and an additional 38 for presentation as short papers.
