Abstract
This paper presents a technology review of Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC) which becomes a popular series of topologies and has been applied in industrial applications in recent years. This paper convers summary of key aspects of the MMC, including modeling, modulation approaches, circulating current control, voltage balancing control and system control algorithms. In addition, those converters related to or derived from the MMC are also discussed.
