Abstract :
This Transactions is the premier journal for the publication of papers related to high-frequency (HF) components, circuits, and systems and the theory, methods, and techniques to explain their operation. This TRANSACTIONS is now 62 years old, with a history that dates back to the Institute of Radio Engineers (IRE). Four years ago, the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (IEEE MTT-S) honored me by asking if I would be the 23rd Editor-in-Chief (EiC) of this publication, and although I questioned my qualifications to serve in this most important position, I accepted it with encouragement from my friend, IEEE MTT-S President Madhu Gupta. I only hope that history will determine that I served this TRANSACTIONS well. I leave this TRANSACTIONS in a very good position. The average time between submission and publication on Xplore is 21.1 weeks, which compares very well with the average of all IEEE journals of 33.7 weeks. The Impact Factor that many institutions use to compare journals is 2.229, which is comparable with the best journals that our members publish papers in. The Eigenfactor and Article Influence of this TRANSACTIONS, which are "prestige measures" that IEEE is also using for comparison of journals, are 0.04033 and 1.222, respectively, which are in the top 5% and 10% of the 240 electrical and electronic engineering journals that we are compared to.
