Abstract
Major disturbances such as weather related loss of primary distribution plant influences the design and installation of protection systems. The introduction of distributed generation also has an impact on the design and performance of protection systems under disturbance conditions. This presentation will consider these issues and describe how modern numerical protection can help resolve some of the problems.
