Abstract :
An investigation of microstrip-fed cavity-backed cross slot antennas using an elliptic cavity is presented in this letter. The antenna has two crossed radiating slots printed on the bottom of substrate and an elliptic cavity behind the slots. Two dual-arm microstrip-fed lines are used to excite which are etched on the upper side of the substrate. An elliptic metal sheet is placed at a distance between 10% low-frequency wavelength and 10% high-frequency wavelength above the substrate to enhance the gain. With the use of cross slots backed by one elliptic cavity, dual band and dual polarization of the antenna have been realized. The simulated bandwidth(10dB return loss) is 65% for 2.4GHz and 23% for 3.6GHz.
