Abstract :
This paper performs an analysis of the present situation and proposes new technical solutions for a tram´s driving system based on the use of d.c. voltage variators (choppers). One presents an original technological solution. Some results yielded by the SPICE simulation of the force and control side are presented, providing an estimation of the time constants are particular features of the expected operating regimes. For a better realization, the equipment is tested with a simulator (the control part) and respectively on a test stand (the force part). Various acceleration steps are simulated, in order to obtain a perfect tuning of the voltage and current regulators and of the treadle transducers. The tests on tram validates the new technological solution, emphasizing its advantages, including those concerning the power efficiency.
