Abstract
We develop averaging theorems for discrete difference equations with time-varying delays. The technique of taking a moving average is utilized to relate trajectories of an original time-varying difference equation with a corresponding averaged difference equation. To demonstrate the applicability of the discrete time averaging results we discuss an application of adaptive identification to process control-a pipe mixing process
