Abstract
The first half of the paper discusses management and control of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and lessons learnt from recent London Underground and mainline rail projects. Stakeholders in the process are considered and improvements to the EMC documentation required. Fixed installations require a responsible person to be identified. An installation can be divided into EMC zones. Gap analysis can be used to determine compliance of the installed equipment within the zone. The second half of the paper considers some specific low frequency harmonic problems associated with lift controllers on tube stations.
