Logical Compute Services is a general model for compatible execution of architecturally foreign (or neutral) applications in a distributed, heterogeneous environment. The framework and its relation to currently available distributed programming tools are presented. The component OS and CPU compatibility engines which make this approach possible are discussed.<>
