Abstract
A low-voltage three-phase power line made of many single-core cables in parallel is analyzed. The geometry of the line refers to International Electrotechnical Commission and European standard suggestions, and different possible solutions are compared. Rated loads are evaluated under both balanced and unbalanced conditions. Steady-state three-phase short-circuit currents are also examined. The protection of such a line composed of parallel single-core cables by overcurrent protection is discussed, making reference to the actual current sharing among the conductors.
