Abstract :
The author posits that the modern scientist needs a mini-supercomputer or supercomputer-class server with integrated graphics, networked to PCs and workstations on the desktop. Alliant has developed a client-server environment to help define, solve and provide insights into scientists´ problems. Using commonly accepted chemistry packages, such as Amber, front-ended by a visualization package such as Visedge (from Visual Edge Inc.) and Biodesign, the scientist is able to mix various compounds and see the results, or compounds, as the computations are performed.<>
