Abstract :
A remote laboratory system is designed for a remote sensing course. The system provides a learning environment where learners can study remote sensing with some experiments, beginning with telnet and ending with Java network programming. The learner´s PC can be connected to experimental instruments with various sensors through the Internet using the standard TCP/IP protocol. The system was practically used on the course at Nagoya University, where students were connecting their PCs to the servers located at both Nagoya and Kumamoto University, where those universities are separated by a thousand kilometer.
