Abstract :
This work addresses the relationship between values and actions. The premise is that ethics must be integrated into all aspects of management and leadership in order for the action to be purposeful and beneficial to society. Leadership is treated here as representative of action. Ethics provide the basis for value systems that govern, or should govern, action. Action and values are incorporated into a framework for purposeful action. This framework combines management principles explicitly with a value system based upon ancient wisdom - rendering it more universal and timeless than those based upon narrowly interpreted religious or cultural traditions, or prevailing laws.
