Abstract :
Measurements of a wireless channel´s spatial correlation guide the development of multi-antenna wireless systems that use spatial diversity. Representative spatial channel measurements are required to design these multi-antenna systems, but typical measurements of spatial correlation obtained by moving an antenna array through a wireless channel provide limited correlation data that cannot be generalized to antenna arrays with different geometries. In contrast, the complete 2-D spatial channel data provided by electromagnetic field reconstruction enables a wide range of spatial correlation analyses including channel correlation matrices for completely arbitrary array geometries.
