Abstract
The authors discuss some of the issues involved in the design of the DSM (distributed system manager). The overall structure of the managed system and the DSM is given. Data modeling of the managed system, the mechanisms for collecting information, and the representation scheme of the information in the history database are described. The specification language for assertions based on the classical temporal logic is presented
